about Kate Moss
The original "waif" in the rarified world of super modeling, Kate Moss' career began unexpectedly in 1988 when she caught the eye of Sarah Ducas of Storm agency while traveling with her family through JFK airport. Her first modeling job was a topless cover photo for the British magazine The Face. Not long after, Kate was catapulted to worldwide fame as the face of Calvin Klein.
Her nude appearances in CK ads have not been the only controversial aspects of the supermodel's extremely successful career. Her alarming thinness led to allegations of anorexia, with critics blaming her for a rise in the disease among young women as Kate's popularity grew. Providing more fodder for the tabloids were her stormy relationship with Johnny Depp, frequent visits to rehab and her bout with liver failure from excessive drinking.
But bad press is better than no press, as evidenced by Kate's reported net worth of over 26 million dollars. That 10,000 a day fee adds up nicely. Besides CK, Kate has also graced the advertisements of Yves Saint Laurent fragrances, Burberry, Dolce & Gabanna, Versace and L'Oreal. A nude portrait of the model by artist Lucian Freud sold for over $7 Million in early 2005. Kate was born January 16, 1974 in Croydon, Surrey, England. Her parents divorced when she was 15. She has a brother, Nick, who is also a model. She keeps apartments in France and London as well as her home base, New York City.
