About Hilary Swank

Hilary Swank was born July 30, 1974 in Bellingham, Washington.  Her childhood included acting in plays beginning at the age of nine as well as participating in sports, appearing in the Junior Olympics and Washington State championships in swimming.  She was also an accomplished gymnast ranking 5th in her state in the all round category.  Moving on to acting she appeared in Buffy the Vampire Slayer in 1992 and then her breakout role in The Next Karate Kid in 1994.  She has won two best actress Academy Awards, for  Boys Don't Cry in 1999 and Million Dollar Baby in 2004.  She was married to actor Chad Lowe.
