Death Cab for Cutie and T.I. to Perform on "The OC"  4/4/05

DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE AND T.I. TO PERFORM ON “THE O.C.” “Music From The O.C. Mix 4” Released Tuesday, April 5

Atlantic recording artists Death Cab for Cutie and T.I. will perform on THE O.C. Thursday, April 21 and Thursday, April 28, respectively. THE O.C. airs Thursdays (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. The series’ fourth soundtrack, “Music From The O.C. Mix 4,” will be released in stores Tuesday, April 5.

Death Cab for Cutie will perform live at the Bait Shop on THE O.C. Thursday, April 21 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. Although Seth is too late for the show, Marissa, Summer and Ryan catch Death Cab’s performances of “The Sound of Settling” and “Title and Registration.”

Rap artist T.I. will perform his hit single “Bring Em Out” on THE O.C. Thursday, April 28 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. When Sandy, Seth and Ryan travel to South Beach to visit the Nana, Seth and Ryan catch T.I.’s performance during “Music Video Nation’s” live broadcast from Spring Break 2005.

“Music From The O.C. Mix 4” is an electrifying mix of indie rock that can be heard on THE O.C. Highlights from the soundtrack include Washington indie rockers Modest Mouse, who performed "The View" at the Bait Shop. "Cartwheels" by The Reindeer Section, a Scottish band, was heard during a scene when Seth sketched his ex-girlfriend Summer, and "Play" by the Norwegian folktronica quartet Flunk played behind a scene where Marissa, Summer and Lindsay hung out in the V.I.P. room of the Bait Shop. “Music From The O.C. Mix 4” is from Warner Bros. records.

Death Cab for Cutie is currently at work on their new studio album set for release in September 2005 on Atlantic Records. The as-yet-untitled album is being produced by band guitarist Chris Walla and is the follow-up to the Seattle quartet's acclaimed album “Transatlanticism.” “Transatlanticism,” which was released in October 2003 on the band's longtime label Barsuk Records, received rave reviews and became its best-selling album to date. The New York Times named “Transatlanticism” one of the top 10 albums of the year and cited it as having "eleven impeccable songs." Death Cab for Cutie spent most of 2004 on the road, including six shows with Pearl Jam as part of the “Vote For Change” concert tour. In addition, Death Cab's Ben Gibbard has enjoyed great success with his side project, The Postal Service, while Chris Walla has built a solid reputation as an innovative producer and engineer, having recorded albums by other acclaimed independent artists, including the Decemberists, Hot Hot Heat and Nada Surf, among others.

T.I. is currently enjoying the success of his RIAA platinum “Urban Legend” release. Now in its fourth month on the national charts, the Grand Hustle/Atlantic release premiered in the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s “Top R&B/ Hip-Hop Albums” chart. “Urban Legend” has thus far spawned a pair of smash singles, both “Bring Em Out” and “U Don’t Know Me.” Coinciding with the success of “Urban Legend,” T.I. is currently on the road with Nelly. The two-month itinerary, covering major venues from coast to coast, began March 18 and will wrap up on May 21.
