Robert De Niro Gives Rare Eulogy to Dustin Hoffman  4/20/05

The famously monosyllabic Robert De Niro honored Dustin Hoffman with a brief tribute at the annual Film Society of Lincoln Center gala on Monday (18APR05).

The legendary Midnight Cowboy star was guest of honor at the glittering event and DeNiro, who starred alongside Hoffman in Sleepers and Meet The Fockers, offered a rare few words of admiration for his contemporary.

And a joking De Niro took the opportunity to remind Hoffman of the six year age difference between them.

He said, "I remember when I was a young kid growing up in New York, how excited I'd get when my parents took me to see Dustin's movies."

Hoffman countered, "We made history tonight. Robert De Niro speaks!"
