KELLY RIPA TELLS NANCY O'DELL ABOUT HER BODY INSECURITIES
SHOW AIRS ON THURSDAY, APRIL 28, 2005
BURBANK, Calif. – April 28, 2005 –
In an interview with "Access Hollywood's" Nancy O'Dell,
actress/talk show host Kelly Ripa talks about her body insecurities,
revealing that her "rear-end" is her least favorite part. The
actress also addresses media reports that she is too thin. The interview
airs on "Access Hollywood," Thursday, April 28, 2005 (check
local listings for time and station) and can be downloaded at http://www.accesshollywood.com.
"If somebody tries to photograph my rear-end, I will put on a
sarong," said Ripa while looking at a photo the New York Post ran of
her in a red bikini. When O'Dell complimented Ripa on how great she looked
in the photo, the talk show host humbly replied, "It was the sun
behind me. Thank God, because that could have had a tragic ending."
In regards to the media reports about her being too thin, the
"Hope & Faith" star said it could always be worse. "It
doesn't bother me as much as if they said I was too heavy," she said.
Ripa added that she does her best to ignore any negative stories written
about her. "My friends know me well enough by now, it's like,
'Listen, don't tell me anything unpleasant, I don't want to hear it, I
don't want to know.'"
That said, there is one particular story about her body that the
actress said was able to get under her skin. "When they said I had my
boobs done I was like, "Come on, give a girl a break, pick on
somebody that has them.'"
The mother of three also said she does her best to shield her kids from
reading anything negative about her. "I've kept them out of the
grocery store for a week," she said. "They can read, so they
know something not nice is being said."
When O'Dell revealed to Ripa that she came in at number 89 on FHM
magazine's "Top 100 Sexiest Women in the World," she mocked
dismay and said, "Look how I've fallen down the ranks. Last year I
was number 40, what happened to me, what did I do wrong?" The
quick-witted talk show host added, "If you want to crack the top ten,
you need very large breasts (laughs)."
