Erika Jo Claims Nashville Star Prize 4/28/05

Tennessee teenager Erika Jo became the first female and youngest winner of US country music talent show Nashville Star last night (26APR05).

The 18-year-old high school student scored the highest vote as 10 million fans of the TV show phoned in to turn one hopeful into a star.

Erika Jo won a recording contract and an appearance at country music mecca the Grand Ole Opry.

The thrilled teen said, "Can you believe that just last weekend I was at my prom? And now here I am with a record deal and an album to record in the next month."
