Penelope Cruz Praises Scientology  4/29/05

Spanish star Penelope Cruz has grown fond of controversial celebrity religion Scientology after dating the church's most famous ambassador Tom Cruise.

The actress didn't become a Scientologist while she was dating the movie hunk, but she did come to appreciate the fact that the church does a lot of good.

She says, "They are the only ones fighting to stop kids from being put on drugs and they are being brave to do that.

"Tom is fighting a lot against that and he is putting a lot of time into that.

"If it wasn't for people like him, I think there would be, in a few years, like 30 million kids on drugs."
