PAX TV'S "COLD TURKEY" RECEIVES PRISM AWARD
-First Season of the Breakthrough Reality Series Among the Winners
Recognized at Ninth Annual Awards Gala-
(West Palm Beach, FL - April 29, 2005) - PAX TV announced today that
its critically acclaimed reality series, "Cold Turkey," received
a PRISM Award for the category "TV Unscripted Non-Fiction Episode or
Special" at last night's 9th Annual PRISM Awards gala at the Beverly
Hills Hotel. Presented annually by the Entertainment Industries Council,
Inc., the PRISM Awards recognize outstanding efforts in the accurate
depiction of drug, alcohol and tobacco use and addiction in film,
television and other media.
This year's awards show, which will air on September 4th on FX, was
emceed by Rolonda Watts, host of PAX TV's "Lie Detector."
Hosted by A.J. Benza, the first season of "Cold Turkey"
followed a group of ten smokers as they encountered both physical and
emotional obstacles en route to freeing themselves of a harmful addiction
that affects millions of people. Beyond a cash prize, contestants who
endured until the series end won the chance at a better life and pride in
knowing that they kicked the habit.
The series was produced by Visual Frontier, Inc., with Stuart Krasnow,
Jeremy Wallace and Murray Valeriano as executive producers and John R.
Holmes as executive in charge of production.
A second installment of the ten-episode series, "Cold Turkey
II," is currently airing on PAX TV on Tuesdays at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT.
"Cold Turkey" is the first series for PAX to win a PRISM
Award. The network has previously received PRISM Commendations and
Certificates of Merit for its series including "Doc," "Hope
Island" and "Twice in a Lifetime."
