American Idol is without argument a major TV hit. It is the type of hit that sponsors love more than their own spouses and just about as much as they love their brokerage accounts. They love it so much that the show needs to be renamed “American Commercial” as an offering to the amount of ads that we must endure. The producers have taken a 30 minute show to tell us who was voted out and stretched it to one hour. That is about 30 minutes too long. So please, reconsider for next week.

            Okay, the ranting is done. Let’s get back to the purpose of tonight’s show, and that is saying goodbye to a contestant hopeful.

            The bottom three included Elliott, Ace and Bucky. Elliott’s standing there with the other two really did surprise me as he has a full range voice and a decent stage presentation. Ace’s bedroom smoldering eyes will take him far, but not as a singer. Bucky has country western blood flowing through his veins and oozing out of his pores.
