Jessica Simpson has Hollywood gossips mystified after wearing her platinum wedding ring on a chain around her neck.

The pop star was spotted wearing the keepsake on holiday in Australia last week (ends14APR06), prompting star watchers to suggest her estranged husband Nick Lachey is close to her heart again.

The sighting of the eternity band marks the first time Simpson has worn the ring in public since she announced her split from Lachey last November (05).

It now shares a special place with a cross gift from her parents.

A friend tells American magazine In Touch, "She wants to keep all her memories close to her heart."

Simpson's decision to go public with her wedding ring accessory came just days after Lachey revealed he still loves his estranged wife in a 4 April (06) radio interview.
