Tom Hanks Pays Tribute to Retired Make-Up King  4/28/06

Tom Hanks has added journalist to his impressive resume after penning a tribute to his longtime make-up artist, Danny Striepeke, in the pages of the New York Times.

The Oscar winner asked if he could write a lengthy article about the 75-year-old, who has been making him look good in films for years - and Times editors agreed.

Striepeke, who won only the second ever Oscars make-up prize handed out, announced his retirement to Hanks at the beginning of 2006 after ending his illustrious career by turning the actor into The Da Vinci Code hero Robert Langdon.

In the article, Hanks writes, "Through almost half of my life and nearly a quarter of his we had made 17 films... We told each other what wonderful adventures those years had given us, and how much we loved each other."
