BURBANK, Calif. - April 30, 2006- In interview with "Access
Hollywood," Brooke Shields talks for the first time about giving
birth at the same hospital and on the same day as Katie Holmes and Tom
Cruise. The interview airs on "Access Hollywood," Monday, May 1,
2006 (Log on to AccessHollywood.com to check local time and station).
At the movie premiere of "Over The Hedge," Brooke Shields
said, "The irony is perfect. The world works in an interesting
way."
When asked if the Shields had any run-ins with Cruise and Holmes at the
hospital she added, "No, God no."
Cruise and Shields, who acted together in Tom's first film, 1981's
"Endless Love," continue to hold very different views on the use
of anti-depressants to treat postpartum depression, which Shields went
public with in her book Down Came The Rain. In May 2005, Cruise talked to
"Access Hollywood's" Billy Bush about Shields use of medication
to overcome postpartum depression. When Bush asked, "Is she
wrong?" Cruise responded, "I look at her life. Here is a woman,
and I care about Brooke Shields because I think she is an incredibly
talented women. You look at where has her career gone?" When Bush
goes on to ask if he was saying she lost her career, Cruise said,
"Well, you look at people. Look, is she happy? Is she really
happy?"
Shields gave birth to her second daughter, Grier Hammond Henchy,
thirteen days ago on April 18th at St. John's Health Center.
"Access Hollywood" is produced by NBC and distributed by NBC
