Jennifer Hudson Invited to Honor Baseball Great Jackie Robinson  4/14/07

Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson has landed another major honor - she'll sing the American National Anthem at a celebration honoring the life and career of baseball legend Jackie Robinson.

The Dreamgirls star has been invited to perform as part of the 60th Anniversary Celebration at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles on Sunday (15APR07) before the home team takes the field against California rivals the San Diego Padres.

It will mark the second time Hudson has performed at a Major League Baseball event - she sang God Bless America during the first game of the 2006 World Series in Detroit, Michigan.

Robinson changed the face of baseball when he became one of the sport's first African American superstars.

Now in its fourth year, the league-wide Jackie Robinson Day will be celebrated at each of the 15 home games played throughout the Major Leagues on 15 April.
