The Color Purple Breaks Broadway Theatre Records With Fantasia  4/17/07

Former American Idol champ Fantasia Barrino has helped give smash hit musical The Color Purple its best week ever after shattering the house record at New York City's Broadway Theatre.

The spectacular, which features newcomer Barrino among its cast, grossed almost $1.2 million last week (ends15Apr07), during its 76th week on Broadway.

The show, co-produced by Oprah Winfrey, previously broke the Broadway Theatre's house record last June (06).
