Simon Cowell Shocked by Kenyan Poverty While Filming Idol Gives Back  4/20/07

Outspoken music mogul Simon Cowell was left speechless during a January (07) visit to Nairobi, Kenya - because he couldn't believe the extent of the poverty in the region.

Cowell was in the African nation with American Idol host Ryan Seacrest during the filming of charity special Idol Gives Back when the desperate circumstances forced him to reflect for a moment.

Seacrest says, "The first day, we rode to a slum and it was worse than anything I had imagined - the ground is moist with sewage, people are so sick.

"At one point, Simon just had this look on his face like he was going to be sick, and he said, 'I've just got to sit down somewhere. I just can't see anymore right now.'"
