Anna Nicole Smith's Baby Daughter Has a New Surname - Birkhead  4/28/07

Anna Nicole Smith's former boyfriend Larry Birkhead has succeeded in getting a new birth certificate for his daughter that features him as the legal and biological father.

Seven-month-old Dannielynn's previous surname was Stern - she is now officially known as Dannielynn Hope Marshall Birkhead.

Her late mother's companion Howard K. Stern's name had appeared on the original birth certificate, but DNA tests confirmed Birkhead as the biological father of the baby on 10 April (07) after months of legal battles and Smith's tragic death in February (07).

An overjoyed Birkhead says, "Just to see my name on there is an awesome feeling."

Yesterday (27Apr07), a judge threw out an appeal by Smith's estranged mother Virgie Arthur to prevent her baby granddaughter from leaving her home in the Bahamas. Birkhead and Dannielynn are now expected to travel to the US in the next few days.
