Step
it Up and Dance Premieres on Bravo Thursday April 3 4/2/08
The Premiere of "Step It Up & Dance" Hosted By Elizabeth
Berkley Follows At 11PM
NEW YORK – April 2, 2008 "Step It Up & Dance," Bravo's
newest creative competition dance series, premieres on Thursday, April 3,
2008 at 11 PM ET/PT, immediately following the season finale of "Make
Me A Supermodel." It's time to get to know each other – and what
better way to do that than partying it up in a Los Angeles
nightclub?
In the premiere episode of "Step it Up & Dance," the 12
contestants move into their LA loft. The competition begins when famed
choreographer Jamie King (who has choreographed for Madonna, Ricky Martin,
Christina Aguilera, Celine Dion and the Spice Girls) breaks the dancers up
into two teams and informs them that they have one night to learn the
Spice Girl's "Spice Up Your Life" dance routine. After a late
night of rehearsing, the dancers audition for the judges, including
surprise guest judge and Spice Girl, Scary Spice/Mel B. One dancer will be
declared the winner and one dancer will be eliminated.
"Step It Up & Dance" moves to its regular time period on
Thursday, April 10 at 10 PM ET/PT. Whether it's a music video one week or
a Vegas spectacular the next, Bravo's new dance series will feature weekly
challenges in which 12 of the best dancers from around the country
audition for a range of parts, designed to showcase their versatility and
moves.
The dancers will have access to some of the top choreographers in the
industry performing in styles that range from hip-hop and freestyle to
Broadway, burlesque and Latin. As the competition gets fierce and
contestants are eliminated, only one person will get the final "call
back" and the chance to become the ultimate dancer, winning
$100,000.
Celebrated actress and dancer Elizabeth Berkley will host the series
and Emmy Award nominee and Tony Award-winning director and choreographer
Jerry Mitchell ("Hairspray," Legally Blonde") will mentor
the dancers. In addition, world-renowned director and choreographer
Vincent Paterson (Madonna's "Blond Ambition" Tour, Michael
Jackson's "Bad" Tour, and choreographer Nancy O'Meara
("Hannah Montana," "High School Musical Tour"), will
serve as judges for the competition.
