Kylie Minogue: "I Still Love Doctors"  4/11/08

Kylie Minogue has released a statement praising the medical profession, two days after she accused doctors of failing to spot she had breast cancer.

The singer spoke out this week claiming she was given a clean bill of health midway through her 2005 Showgirls tour. Several weeks later she discovered a lump; was diagnosed with cancer; and spend a year being treated, before finally beating the disease.

She said, "Because someone is in a white coat and using big medical instruments doesn't necessarily mean they're right."

But the Australian star insists she has "a great respect for the medical profession".

Her statement thanks the "countless people" who helped her through her illness, adding, "I am in the very best of hands now, but it is a fact that my initial diagnosis was that I was 'all right, and had nothing to worry about. A few weeks later this was clearly not the case. Early diagnosis and prompt treatment is the key for any woman diagnosed with breast cancer".
