FOX’s daring new drama series PRISON BREAK will have a special encore
airing of its two-hour premiere this Thursday, Sept. 1 (8:00-10:00 PM
ET/PT). The series premiere, which aired Monday, Aug. 29, delivered a
4.6/12 among Adults 18-49 and won Monday night among virtually all key
measures. Over 18 million viewers saw at least part of the premiere, on
FOX’s highest-rated summer Monday in seven years. PRISON BREAK will have
its time period premiere Monday, Sept. 5 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.
PRISON BREAK’s series premiere showed substantial momentum, growing
every half hour. From the first to the last half hour, PRISON BREAK grew
+31% among Adults 18-49 (3.9 > 4.6 > 4.9 > 5.1), +38% among
Adults 18-34 (3.9 > 4.7 > 5.2 > 5.4) and +18% in Total Viewers
(9.4 > 10.7 > 10.9 > 11.1 Mil).
MICHAEL SCOFIELD (Wentworth Miller) is a desperate man in a desperate
situation – his brother LINCOLN BURROWS (Dominic Purcell) has been
convicted of a sensational murder and is on death row in Fox River State
Penitentiary. Despite the evidence against Lincoln, Michael is convinced
of his innocence. With no other options and the clock ticking toward the
execution, Michael holds up a bank to get himself incarcerated alongside
his brother. Once he’s inside, we learn that Michael – a structural
engineer with the entire blueprints for the prison tattooed over his upper
torso – has hatched an elaborate plan to break Lincoln out and prove
that he was framed for the crime.
Combining the hope of “The Shawshank Redemption,” the camaraderie
of “The Longest Yard” and the tense procedure and spectacle of “The
Great Escape,” the series promises to reveal additional pieces of the
puzzle each week as Michael carries out his daring plan to mastermind the
ultimate prison break – and solve the far-reaching national-scale
conspiracy that landed him and his brother there in the first place.
PRISON BREAK is created, written and executive-produced by Paul
Scheuring (“A Man Apart”). Brett Ratner directs the pilot episode and
serves as executive producer, along with Marty Adelstein, Neal H. Moritz,
Dawn Parouse and Matt Olmstead. Michael Watkins is co-executive producer
and directed the series’ second hour.
