Nick Cannon Signs for New Season of MTV's Wild 'N Out  8/9/06

Rapper/actor Nick Cannon has followed in the footsteps of Sean 'Diddy' Combs by signing a production deal with MTV to develop and appear in a string of projects for the channel.

The hip-hop star is already planning a sketch comedy and music reality series to complement his current show Nick Cannon Presents Wild 'N Out, now entering its third series.

As well as the TV contract, Cannon will also work closely with MTV Films who have agreed to purchase scripts and pitches with Cannon attached as a producer.

He says, "It's kind of cool for MTV to trust me with a discretionary fund to go out and buy projects. For them to actually see me as someone who can create and put product on the network is really great."

Combs and his Bad Boy Entertainment signed a similar MTV deal in March 2005.
