Dog
the Bounty Hunter Sued 8/18/06
American TV bounty hunter Duane 'Dog' Chapman is being sued by a man
who claims the star wrongly tried to apprehend him.
Simaile 'Cisco' Lutu, 29, filed a lawsuit in the US District Court on
Wednesday (16AUG06). He is seeking unspecified damages from Chapman, his
Hawaii-based team of bondsmen, the A&E TV network and police.
Lutu claims Chapman mistakenly took him for a bail jumper who played
for his local semi-pro Californian football team the Daly City Renegades.
His attorney Jim Hammer says, "This is reality TV run amok."
Lutu also alleges police have continued to harass him after the
incident - he claims cops handcuffed and held him at gunpoint at a health
club the next day, and the same thing happened a second time.
The lawsuit also claims Lutu never signed a released for the use of his
image, but that he still featured in this year's (06) season premiere.
Chapman is surprised by the lawsuit.
He says, "Cisco called me right after the show and said, 'Thanks
Dog, all the girls love me now.'"
