James Denton: "Desperate Housewives Too Dark to Pick Up Emmy"  8/22/06

Desperate Housewives actor James Denton has blamed the hit show for missing out on an Emmy nomination for Best Comedy because it's too "dark".

The Hollywood hunk, who plays plumber Mike Delfino, believes Desperate Housewives fails to fit comfortably in the funny genre, which is why it missed out.

Denton says, "I don't think the show is a pure comedy or pure drama and last year, particularly, it was very dark.

"So, when you're nominating yourself or presenting yourself as a comedy, there's certainly funnier shows on television, as a pure comedy."

The Emmy winners will be announced at a ceremony on 27 August 27 (06).
