FEATURE FILM
Six-episode, Hidden-camera Series Brings New Element of Surprise to
Unsuspecting Wedding Guests
BURBANK -- August 28, 2006 -- NBC will introduce the new reality series
"The Real Wedding Crashers," inspired by last year's hit New
Line feature film "Wedding Crashers" - to be produced by New
Line Television and Katalyst Films ("Punk'd") -- that will
feature hidden cameras that will record improvisational actors who go
undercover at real weddings to bring an added element of surprise to the
traditional proceedings.
Katalyst's Ashton Kutcher, Jason Goldberg and Karey Burke will be
executive producers of the six-episode series along with New Line's Jon
Kroll ("Amazing Race," "Amish in the City") and Jim
Rosenthal ("Blade").
The announcement was made today by Craig Plestis, Senior Vice
President, Alternative Programming, Development and Specials, NBC
Entertainment.
"Everyone loved 'Wedding Crashers' and we wanted to see if we
could capture that same kind of inspired frivolity in a real-life
series," said Plestis. "Working with Ashton and knowing his
memorable experiences with the jokes he pulled off on 'Punk'd' made it
that much more enticing. This series has a big upside potential for
hidden-camera humor."
The pranksters are expected to do more than liven up the stress and
drama common to many weddings. They also intend to occasionally bring
families together in emotional moments.
