Penelope Cruz: "I Am Not a Prisoner of Fame"  8/31/06

Penelope Cruz refuses to avoid romancing another actor just to avoid media scrutiny of her private life, insisting stars should ignore the press and see whoever they choose.

The Volver star, who has previously dated Matthew McConaughey and Tom Cruise, hates her love life being in the spotlight, but she solves the problem by simply never talking about it.

She says, "I refuse to live as a prisoner of fame. I'm not going to forbid myself from falling in love with an actor just to avoid being on display."
