TORONTO, Aug. 9 /CNW/ - MTV in Canada announced today that its original
program "The Hills After Show" will be broadcast in the United
States on MTV.com where a potential audience of 24 million visits each
month. The show debuts Monday, August 13. Created and produced by MTV in
Canada and hosted by the channel's own Jessi Cruickshank and Dan Levy,
"The Hills After Show" will debut in America (and return to
Canada for its second season) immediately following "The Hills"
Season 3 premiere. Both "The Hills" and "The Hills After
Show" will now be seen simultaneously in Canada and the US, meaning
fans in both countries will have full access to satisfy their
"Hills" cravings. MTV in Canada's most-watched program,
"The Hills" begins its third season with a special one-hour
premiere on Monday, August 13 at 10 p.m. ET/PT followed immediately by
"The Hills After Show" at 11 p.m. ET/PT, exclusively on MTV.
"We strive to produce engaging homegrown content that communicates
with our audience so we're very proud of "The After Show" and
the high level of success it has achieved," said Brad Schwartz, Sr.
Vice-President and General Manager, MTV in Canada. "The opportunity
to expand the show's audience to include Americans will take the show to
the show to greater creative heights." "This is another success
for our Canadian production team," said Mark McInnis, Vice-President,
Production, MTV in Canada. "Bringing Americans into the fold will add
a new layer to the show. I can't wait to see webcammers from all across
North America chatting with Dan and Jessi!" Launched in May 2006,
"The Hills After Show" is the companion program to MTV in
Canada's No. 1 series. Hosts Jessi Cruickshank and Dan Levy say all the
things viewers are thinking and ask the questions they really want
answered.
Joined regularly by members of "The Hills" cast, Cruickshank
and Levy recap the show with the help of a telestrator, slow-motion and
video "remixes. The "Hills" experts dish on all the things
fans want to know about their favourite (Lauren? Brody?) and least
favourite (Spencer!) members of "The Hills" cast. As always,
"The Hills After Show" has in-studio fans who add their opinions
and observations to the hilarious conversation while viewers weigh in with
their own thoughts and comments via phone, e-mail and webcam. "The
Hills After Show" airs each week at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT, immediately
following "The Hills."
The made-in-Canada "Hills After Show" has already made a mark
with fans in the United States through some of its infamous video
"remixes," which have been circulated to fans in both countries.
The re-cut clips from the series have become a hit in their own right, and
as a testament to their creativity and sense of humour, the Canadian
remixes have been included as extras on The Complete Second Season DVD
Set, which became available in stores across North America this week. Fans
can visit mtv.ca/thehills for all the latest details on the series.
A bona fide hit in Canada, "The Hills" is the Number 1 series
on MTV in Canada. "The Hills After Show" follows closely as the
third most popular show on the channel. For the Season 2 finale of
