Gwyneth Paltrow Coerced Into Big Budget Movie by Robert Downey, Jr.  8/11/07

Gwyneth Paltrow had to be convinced into signing to star into forthcoming movie Iron Man by Robert Downey Jr., after he declared it was time she shunned low-budget, independent movies for a huge blockbuster.

In the last few years, Paltrow has passed over roles in big movies to star in low-key releases Proof, Sylvia and Possession.

It was only after Downey told her there was nothing wrong with starring in a blockbuster, Paltrow agreed to play Virginia 'Pepper' Potts.

She says, "Robert called me and he said, 'This is gonna be fun, and this is gonna be good.' And then he said to me, 'Don't you want to be in a movie that people see?' And I was like, Whoa! What would that feel like?

"And he's right. Moviemaking is not supposed to be a masturbatory exercise; it's supposed to be shared by other people."
