Reality TV star Paris Hilton has bought a five-bedroom mansion in Beverly Hills, California - just eight days after selling her nearby Hollywood property for $4.25 million.

The hotel heiress wanted to move to a more secluded spot, where she can escape the prying eyes of the press, and settled on a Mediterranean-style home located in a gated community.

The mansion has its own gym and a gourmet kitchen, reports American magazine Us Weekly.

Media interest in Hilton is at an all-time high after the socialite served 23 days of a 45-day jail sentence in June (07) for violating probation on a 2006 drink-driving charge.
