American reality TV star Jason Wahler has proposed to his tennis player girlfriend Katja Decker-Sadowski.

The troubled Laguna Beach star asked for the college athlete's hand after presenting her with a four-carat emerald cut diamond ring last weekend (25/26Aug07).

The couple has been dating for six months, reports website TMZ.

The good news comes after months of bad for Wahler, whose ongoing legal problems include a recent lawsuit filed against him by a tow-truck driver, who alleges the 20-year-old punched him in his left eye and called him "n**ger", "motherf**cker", "fag" and "fatass" during an assault in 2006.

Wahler pleaded guilty to the incident, the first in a string of alcohol-related arrests, in March (07). He was sentenced to 60 days in prison and ordered to attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and anger management classes.

He entered rehab in May (07), and that same month was charged with assault, criminal trespass and underage drinking in relation to an April (07) incident when he allegedly hurled racial and homophobic abuse at police while being arrested for punching a hotel security guard.

Prosecutors claim that incident violated his probation for the September 2006 tow-truck driver assault.
