Former seventies star Marie Osmond was stunned when she was invited to
appear on U.S. TV talent show Dancing With the Stars, because she can't
dance.
Osmond, 47, will be partnered with a professional dancer to learn a
range of genres, including the tango, the rumba, the foxtrot and cha-cha
on the new series of the ABC show, which starts next month (24Sep07).
She says, "When they called, I was like, 'No! Shut up! Me? And
then after the initial high, I was like, 'No! Shut up! Me!'
"On Donny and Marie (70s TV show) we did dancing, but that was the
point of having 14 people behind you. It distracted (the audience) from
your inability (to dance)."
