Britney Spears' Father Grateful For Breakdown 8/13/08

Britney Spears' father Jamie is glad his daughter suffered a breakdown - because it allowed him to rebuild their relationship. Spears endured a variety of setbacks following her split from ex-husband Kevin Federline in 2006, including the couple's high-profile divorce and bitter custody battle over their two sons.

The strain on the singer led to a stint in rehab, her notorious head-shaving incident, and a stand-off with police which resulted in her hospitalization on a mental health order. Her father Jamie was granted conservatorship of her estate in January (08), allowing him control of all her legal and business affairs.

And Jamie is convinced that his daughter's breakdown has had a positive outcome - as she is now much closer to her parents. He tells U.S. magazine OK!, "God has a way of taking something bad and turning it into something good. "If this hadn't happened, I would never have been able to get back with my daughter and have this relationship I have with these two little boys."
