Penelope Cruz Kicks Off Awards Season With Film Honor 8/19/08
Spaniard Penelope Cruz will herald the start of America's movie award season by picking up the honor her boyfriend Javier Bardem claimed in 2007.
Cruz will receive the IFP's Gotham Award at the 18th annual Gotham Awards, which will take place in New York on 2 December (08). Cruz will be honored for current films Vicky Cristina Barcelona and Elegy as well as her body of work.
The Gotham Awards are considered the start of the awards season, which ends with the Oscars.
