Led Zeppelin Song Cut For Olympics 8/23/08

Olympics organisers have reportedly ordered Led Zeppelin's classic track Whole Lotta Love to be shortened when it is sung by Leona Lewis during the closing ceremony.

Bosses of the sporting spectacular claim the song is too long to be performed in full by guitarist Jimmy Page and British TV talent show winner Lewis at the event on Sunday (24Aug08).

Officials in London, who are charged with organizing the 2012 Olympics in the city, also say Lewis asked for the words of the third verse to be changed from "I'm gonna give you every inch of my love" to "every bit" of my love because the original would not make sense for a female singer.

But news that the notorious second verse - with its line "Way, way down inside honey, you need it" - has been dropped altogether has led to speculation Olympic Games chiefs in China felt the lyrics were too risque for the family-orientated closing ceremony, reports Britain's Daily Telegraph newspaper.
