Moby:
"Eminem Has Blood on His Hands"
12/12/05
Outspoken techno artist Moby has released a chilling warning about
misogynistic music to rapper Eminem - telling the hip-hop star: "You
have blood on your hands."
The Porcelain hit maker launched the tirade, encompassing other artists
and record industry employees too, in the wake of news an Eminem
impersonator was convicted of killing a woman and stuffing her body in a
suitcase.
The crazed fan had just finished a karaoke performance singing Eminem
hits including Stan - whose video graphically depicts the kidnapping of a
woman who is thrust into the back of a car.
On his website Moby demands, "If a musician made a record wherein
he talked about killing blacks and Jews would he get covered in the press
and played on radio and MTV? If the answer is 'no' (as it should be), then
why is radio and MTV filled with music that has lyrics about killing and brutalizing
women and gays?
"Any employee of a record company or journalist or radio
programmer or MTV employee who has promoted and celebrated misogynistic or
homophobic music should be ashamed.
"You have blood on your hands, and you should be deeply, deeply
troubled at the culture that you've helped to create."
The remarks are expected to ignite the long-running feud between the
two musicians, which began when Moby accused the rapper of promoting
homophobia through his lyrics.
Eminem has denied any blame in the murder case, according to US gossip
site The Scoop.
He says, "I'm completely innocent. I should be cleared of all
charges."
