SEASON, ON ABC'S "EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION"
Episode Includes Special Appearances by First Lady Laura Bush, James
Denton, Wayne Newton, Brian Wilson and More!
"Extreme Makeover: Home Edition Holiday Wishes" - Each
designer goes back to visit one family who has received a makeover in the
past and to join them on a mission to pay their good fortune forward, in a
special two-hour holiday episode of "Extreme Makeover: Home
Edition," THURSDAY, DECEMBER 22 (8:00-10:00 p.m., ET), on the ABC
Television Network. (Rebroadcast. OAD: 12/11/05)
Starting in LA, Sweet Alice Harris has asked Ty and the gang to give
the Los Angeles Free Clinic a makeover. Ed stays behind to help with the
task, while Ty launches the other designers on their missions to help as
many people as possible.
Preston visits Robin Leslie, displaced from her home in New Orleans
after the hurricane and now living in a run-down trailer in Mississippi.
They set off to see her house for the first time, which, miraculously,
they find still standing. Anxious to help the many others in need, Preston
and Robin join up with Sears American Dream and, along with First Lady
Laura Bush, deliver clothes to people who've lost everything.
Paul and Tracy visit the Pope family in Northern California and find
that Shelby - who is allergic to sunlight - is thriving in the new house.
The Popes want to help other kids with this rare disease, and are able to
arrange for Disneyworld to open their doors at night. When Paul, Tracy,
the Popes and 20 kids with the disease board a special Southwest flight
for Orlando, little do they know that they're off to have the most magical
night of their lives - riding Splash Mountain, Thunder Mountain and Dumbo,
meeting the Seven Dwarves and other characters, watching fireworks and the
electric parade - all in the dark, from midnight to 4:00 a.m. As a special
treat, Brian Wilson performs "Deck the Halls" for the families.
Paige heads to Tennessee to visit Luis Rodriguez, who is doing great on
his new leg and whose family is thrilled with their new house. Luis wants
to do whatever he can to help Bobby Isaacs, another soldier who lost both
his legs in Iraq. Paige and Luis head to Bobby's house in North Carolina
for an emotional reunion, a walk-through of Bobby's tiny cabin, and a big
surprise - both men are being sent away on vacation while we make over
Bobby's house with new floors, a new bathroom, a fishing dock and, of
course, a plasma TV. Mike Iaconelli, the winner of the Bass Master
Classic, comes to test out Bobby's new boat with Paige, and while on
vacation, Bobby and Luis speak to vets from other wars.
Michael visits the Broadbent family in Las Vegas. All are doing well in
the house, despite their struggles with cancer and HIV. The Broadbents
want to deliver meals to sick people who can't go home for the holidays,
so Michael arranges for a hotel on the strip to cook up a hundred meals,
and Wayne Newton escorts them around the city, delivering meals to AIDS
patients and other sick people in the Las Vegas area. They go to the
extreme, not only dropping off meals, but also some extraordinary gifts
for people in the community in what turns out to be a beautiful day of
giving.
Meanwhile, Ty and Ed are busy working with Swinerton Builders to get
the clinic ready, and James Denton of ABC's "Desperate
Housewives" shows up to help plumb because, after all, he's a plumber
on TV!
In the end, all of the designers return to LA for the emotional
unveiling of the new LA Free Clinic, and the band O.A.R. plays the theme
song live, ringing in a wonderful holiday season of giving.
The design team for this special holiday episode of "Extreme
