Jackson Discusses Season 5 of American Idol
12/20/05
By Marcus
Randy Jackson of American Idol fame fielded multiple calls from
reporters asking about the new season. But a number of the callers were
more concerned with the quality of the performers that were permitted on
the actual TV program itself. Could it be that the really horrible singers
somehow were chosen only because of how bad they sounded? Was this an
attempt to embarrass them and thus get higher ratings from the audience?
Among the thousands of aspiring hopeful singers who auditioned for a slot,
why did some of those slots end up being rewarded to 'they should only
sing in the shower' types?"
Randy repeatedly gave assurance that all try-outs were considered and
there was no intentional process and certainly no conspiracy to include
some just for comic relief. He also affirmed that the winners of the past
programs were truly the very best. And he believes that the American
public can be trusted to select that particular singer who possesses the
difficult to define "it" quality. The "it" quality is
what makes the difference between a great Sunday church choir soloist and
a superstar.
Okay, Randy, we will be watching and listening.
