GEORGE CLOONEY TALKS TO NBC NEWS' MATT LAUER ABOUT HIS WILD NIGHT WITH DANNY DEVITO

Interview to Air on NBC News' "Today," Monday December 4, 2006

NEW YORK – December 1, 2006 - - George Clooney sat down with NBC News' Matt Lauer and talked about his night of partying with fellow actor Danny DeVito. Clooney told Lauer that when he woke up the next morning from the "brutal night" he was "still drunk." The interview will air Monday, December 4 on "Today." Lauer:

When's the last time you got really drunk?

Clooney:

(Laughs) HA HA HA Um...Well...It's...

Lauer:

I mean stumble down, fall on your face drunk.

Clooney:

Really? Umm...well...I was with um, an actor recently...

Lauer:

Big guy, little guy?

Clooney:

Umm...Big, big heart umm and ah we were doing shots of limoncello and that's all I can really say on the subject.

Lauer:

Or all you can really remember (Laughs)

Clooney:

(Laughs) All I can remember...

Lauer:

This was Danny DeVito?! Who showed up on "The View" the next day and just seemed wrecked.

Clooney:

Yea (laughs) he...ha. I think he probably was (laughs)... I was .. I had to do ah, ah "Regis & Kelly" the next day and I was pretty, pretty hung over as well.

Lauer:

How much was consumed?

Clooney:

A lot. I was...I got to the point where I was dumping the shots into, ah you know, a plant next to me and um, I don't think...I don't think Danny saw me do that.

Lauer:

(Joking) When I read the story the next day I just thought... I felt it was so sleazy of you cause it's such a calculated move. You hang out, you go party with DeVito just so you can score with his castoff's.

Clooney:

Exactly.

Lauer:

There's no question.

Clooney:

That's seems (mumbles)? Picking up his girls.

Lauer:

All the girls at the bar are going to saying, "Hey you're cute, but what about you?"

Clooney:

Well the funniest thing was it was, ah you know, we were just at a restaurant. It wasn't like we were out drinking. We were at a restaurant, sitting down, drinking. I was in bed by 11:30 at night and I woke up at, you know, 7 (laughs) and I was still drunk (laughs)... It was a brutal night.

Lauer:

Sounds like a good night.
