Simon Cowell Slams Jamelia  12/13/06

Music mogul Simon Cowell has branded British pop star Jamelia "a one-hit wonder" after she criticized his talent show protégée Leona Lewis.

Lewis, 21, and Ray Quinn, 18, Cowell's remaining contestants on ITV show The X Factor, are competing in the final with the hope of securing a record contract this Saturday (16DEC06).

Earlier this week (ends15DEC06), Jamelia said shy Londoner Lewis wouldn't fit in the music industry and called her strong vocals "a bit Mariah Carey circa 1990".

Furious Cowell responds, "My advice would be to have a second hit and then you can have an opinion."

Cowell's fellow X Factor judge Sharon Osbourne adds, "Can I just ask something? Who is Jamelia? This is all going over my head."

Despite Cowell's claims, Jamelia has had seven top 10 singles in the UK charts.
