Dannii Minogue has laughed off suggestions she is dating Simon Cowell - but she admits she has formed a 'special relationship' with the music mogul.

The singer - who was recruited by Cowell to join the judging panel for U.K.

reality show The X Factor - sparked speculation of a romance with the 48-year-old after several British tabloids printed a photo of the pair holding hands in a taxi.

But the 36-year-old insists that although she can't help but flirt with the TV judge, the pair aren't romantically involved.

She says, "Simon and I do flirt in a really fun way and I'm pretty tactile.

We click and get on really well. But that man could flirt with a book, a wall, anything.

"That picture looked so wrong but it wasn't at all - we weren't even holding hands. Simon was just stretching out his arms. I don't fancy him."
