Alicia
Keys: "Pop Music Makes Me Cry"
12/17/07
Alicia Keys is so depressed by the state of the music industry she
can't listen to the radio without bursting into tears.
The singer claims record labels force meaningless, emotionless and
disposable music on the public - and they are killing creativity as a
result.
She says, "We're in a certain instant gratification era right now
that kills the whole vibe. It murders it because it makes it so accessible
and easy. You can find any song anywhere at any time, so why buy it?
"Then, also, at the heart of the matter, is the fact that people
aren't motivated to even feel anything anymore. So much music right now is
empty, and that's what we get shoved down our throats every day;
emptiness.
"If I watch videos or listen to radio for more than an hour, I
want to cry."
