Dog
Chapman Makes Amends at Black Toy Giveaway
12/17/07
American TV star Duane "Dog" Chapman joined a black advocacy
group on Saturday (15Dec07) to spread the Christmas cheer at a toy
giveaway in an attempt to dispel accusations of racism.
The Dog The Bounty Hunter star was caught up in controversy last month
(Nov07) when he was heard referring to his son Tucker's Latino girlfriend
as a "whore" and a "n**ger" on an audio tape, which
landed in the hands of editors at U.S. tabloid, the National Enquirer.
Chapman has since apologized for the racial slur and insists he is not
a racist.
He appeared with the Brotherhood Organization of a New Destiny (BOND)
on Saturday to help hand out presents to disadvantaged children and gave
away signed copies of his book, You Can Run But You Can't Hide.
Reverend Jesse Lee Peterson, the founder of BOND, says, "We don't
condone racial slurs, but upon hearing Dog's apology and after meeting
with him and his family, we don't believe he's a racist. We also believe
that Duane 'Dog' Chapman sincerely wants to make amends to the black
community, and deserves a second chance."
