Nicolette Sheridan's Painful Self-Piercing  2/25/05

Desperate Housewives star Nicollette Sheridan only has one ear pierced - because she couldn't face going through another session with a carpet needle. A number of years ago, the British-born actress took on the task of putting a hole in her ear herself, and the pain put her off ever touching the other lobe. 

She says, "I like things on an angle. I don't like things that are uniform. And so I did (the piercing) myself because my mother was very strict when I was little and I wasn't allowed to wear make-up or nail polish or have like a Farrah Fawcett haircut. "She wouldn't let me have pierced ears. I only wanted one, thank God, and so I pierced it myself with a big fat carpet needle. I almost passed out. "I pulled it all the way through, and finally the post for the little diamond fit through. I looked in the mirror and I was like, 'Oh dear!' I had to sit down (with my) head between the knees. I don't think I'd do it again!"
