Oprah Winfrey Inks $55 Million Deal  2/10/06

Oprah Winfrey has won a $55 million three-year deal with XM Satellite Radio to launch new channel Oprah And Friends in September (06).

The talk show queen will have her own program covering fitness, health and self-improvement topics with guests that also appear on US TV's The Oprah Winfrey Show.

The Washington DC-based business, eager to compete with rival company Sirius' shock jock Howard Stern, has also signed other large contracts such as an 11-year, $650 million deal with America's Major League Baseball.
