American
Idol February 21st “Of The Dozen, Whom Do You Remember”
2/22/06
By Marcus
Twelve women wanted to
“wow us” in tonight’s competition. Did they “wow” you? Let's do
a quick recap.
Tennessee Mandisa has the voice but does she have the figure? Yeah,
I know that the voice and the talent are really supposed to count, but
what about the looks? Is the youth market ready for a full-figured idol?
If so, then Mandisa could be the winner.
Wholesome and “ah shucks” Kellie’s voice is just too soft.
Her struggle to achieve something special in her life makes her very
appealing. But it was her misfortune to follow the Mandisa’s performance
and in doing so, she was just overwhelmed in comparison.
Gorgeous twin Becky excites us with her dangerous vamp heat. She
has all the right moves but her voice is tepid. If she could just somehow
allow herself to really sing, she could have a real chance.. But right now
tonight, she is like a beautifully wrapped Christmas
gift with nothing inside.
Ayla the hoop player has learned from the judge’s comments and
suggestions, but she needs to find her stride quickly. Or, she will be
quickly off the court.
Seventeen year old
Paris
is a juicy
Georgia
peach. Blessed by the gods with singing talent and natural stage presence,
she had the audience clapping, dancing, and wanting more. What more could
be asked?
Opera diva Stevie has a trained professional sounding voice, but no
electricity.
With enough ego to raise the Titanic, snarling and always posing
Brenda tried to show us a more gentle side. She failed. We want the
attitude. Come on, girl, slash us.
Blonde Heather’s inviting smile could not save her from playing
it too safe. She didn’t keep our interest and may have earned herself a
ticket home.
Beauty pageant contestant Melissa sang well, but she just stood
there like a popsicle stick. It was as if the stage was so frightening,
that she hid within herself. She needs to find that inner self-confidence
or she will be gone.
They tell us that Lisa Tucker is only sixteen years old. Like we
believe that!
Lisa has the voice, the
looks, and the confidence. That girl owned the stage and the audience
alike. From the first time she sang, you knew she had the “it” factor.
And she does not disappoint. You know, maybe she is hosting the spirits of
past singers? Those incredible stars whose lives and songs made us feel
special. Yeah, that’s it. That is what makes her so incredibly talented.
Otherwise, it would be impossible to think of her as being just sixteen
years old.
Kinnik’s voice was good but I can’t remember what she sang.
San Francisco Katherine sang to my heart. She belonged on stage.
So, that is the twelve who wanted to entertain and excite us. But
did they?
Who do you remember of the
twelve? For me, only a few have left an impression that made me to hear
more. Those are: Mandisa, Paris, and Lisa.
And you?
