Matthew Fox Loves Playing Flabby Character  2/28/06

Actor Matthew Fox didn't have to get in top form to play Dr Jack Shephard in the hit TV drama Lost, because he thought his character should be out of shape.

The former Party of Five star believed his character's hectic schedule would have prevented him from working out regularly.

He explains, "Because Jack is a surgeon who has been operating primarily in a world of hospitals, he had probably let himself go a bit.

"To tell you the truth, I was actually a little out of shape when I first started taping Lost.

"But I thought this would be a great place to start filling out the character in a really natural way.

"I think being on the island started changing that.

"My plan is that by the end of year four, he's going to be one lean, mean fighting machine."
