THE FIRST TIME, ALONG WITH WYCLEF JEAN; CHRIS BROWN, LIONEL RICHIE AND
SMOKEY ROBINSON TEAM FOR A SPECIAL SEGMENT, AND RASCAL FLATTS IS SET TO
PERFORM ON "THE 49TH ANNUAL
GRAMMY® AWARDS," LIVE FROM STAPLES CENTER IN LOS ANGELES, FEB. 11
ON THE CBS TELEVISION NETWORK
Natasha Bedingfield, Tony Bennett, Lewis Black, Nicolas Cage, Ornette
Coleman, LeAnn Rimes, Nicole Scherzinger (The Pussycat Dolls), Seal and
David Spade Have Been Added to Present
International superstar and GRAMMY® Award nominee Shakira will
perform, along with nominee Wyclef Jean; nominees Chris Brown, Lionel
Richie and Smokey Robinson team for a special tribute to the tradition of
great male R&B artists, and nominee Rascal Flatts will join previously
announced nominee Carrie
Underwood in a tribute to country rock, on THE 49TH ANNUAL GRAMMY
AWARDS, live from STAPLES Center in Los Angeles, Sunday Feb. 11
(8:00-11:30PM live ET/delayed PT) on the CBS Television Network.
Added to present are current nominee Natasha Bedingfield, current
nominee and 12-time GRAMMY Award winner Tony Bennett, current nominee
comedian Lewis Black, Academy Award winner Nicolas Cage, current Lifetime
Achievement Award honoree Ornette Coleman, two-time GRAMMY Award winner
LeAnn Rimes, current nominee Nicole Scherzinger (of the Pussycat Dolls),
three-time GRAMMY Award winner Seal, and David Spade, star of the
Network's new comedy "Rules of Engagement."
Shakira, who has won two GRAMMY Awards and seven Latin GRAMMY Awards,
and three-time GRAMMY Award winner Wyclef Jean are currently nominated for
Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals. Chris Brown is nominated for Best New
Artist and Best Contemporary R&B Album. Lionel Richie is a four-time
GRAMMY Award winner and is currently nominated for Best Male R&B Vocal
Performance and Best R&B Album. GRAMMY winner Smokey Robinson is
nominated for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album. Rascal Flatts is nominated
for Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal.
Previously announced performers are Christina
Aguilera, Beyoncé,
Mary J. Blige, the Dixie Chicks, Gnarls Barkley, John Legend, Ludacris, John
Mayer, Corinne Bailey Rae, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Justin
Timberlake (a solo performance and with the winner of the "My
GRAMMY Moment" competition), the Police and Carrie Underwood.
Previously announced presenters are Joan Baez, The Black Eyed Peas, Ciara,
Nelly Furtado, Terrence Howard, Samuel L. Jackson, P!nk,
Rihanna, Chris Rock and Stevie Wonder.
