Fantasia Barrino Considers Purple Role  2/16/07

American Idol star Fantasia Barrino is looking to follow Jennifer Hudson into the acting world after taking steps to join the Broadway cast of The Color Purple.

Sources claim Barrino is in negotiations to play Miss Celie in the stage production.

Miss Celie was portrayed by Whoopi Goldberg in The Color Purple movie.

Barrino is touted to replace LaChanze, who won a Tony Award for her part in the Oprah Winfrey produced stage show.
