Minister Resigns Over Anna Nicole Smith Bed Photos  2/19/07

The Bahamian Immigration Minister last week (12FEB07) shamed in photos getting intimate with tragic model Anna Nicole Smith has resigned.

In the revealing shots, a fully-clothed Smith appeared to be embracing Minister Shane Gibson in bed. Gibson, who approved the former Playboy Playmate's application for permanent residency in The Bahamas last year (06), had already come under fire for giving Smith special treatment.

Last night (18FEB07) he quit his post and offered a televised apology for his unprofessional behavior.

Gibson said, "I want to apologize to all persons who may in any way have been offended by anything that I have said, done, or perceived to have said or done."

However, the politician continued to refute accusations levied against him, adding, "I unconditionally deny that I ever abused my ministerial office by granting Anna Nicole Smith any permit of which she was undeserving or for which she was not qualified under the laws of the Bahamas."

Prime Minister Perry Christie said he accepted Gibson's resignation, calling it "the correct course of action".
