Uma
Thurman Given "Stalker" Case Court Date
2/6/08
Uma Thurman will stand face-to-face in court with the man accused of
stalking her next month (Mar08).
A judge at Manhattan's Supreme Court in New York has set a tentative
trial date of 11 March for Jackson Jordan, 36, who is charged with
harassment and felony coercion.
He is accused of attempting to gain entry to Thurman's trailer on a New
York movie shoot, and sending her letters and drawings, including a sketch
of the actress digging his grave.
Another letter read, "I feel afraid that if I see you out again
with anther man, I will want to kill myself."
Jordan has turned down the offer of enrolment in a mental health
program - which would have shortened any custodial sentence he is given -
because he wanted to see her in court.
The defendant's lawyer George Vomvolakis has revealed he intends to
argue in court that "he was just a romantic pursuing the woman that
he loved".
If convicted, Jordan faces a minimum sentence of one year in a mental
health institution.
