American
Idol Finalist Haley Scarnato Signed to Anchor LA Boat Show Coverage
2/7/08
LOS ANGELES, Feb. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Two rising stars will come together
at this year's Los Angeles International Boat Show, February 9-17, as American
Idol Top-10 finalist Haley Scarnato joins the new Performance Boats
Magazine editorial team to celebrate the print and website's debut.
Scarnato, who as an Idol favorite electrified television's most popular
show with her rousing vocals and scorching wardrobe, will showcase her
stunning camera presence as she provides color commentary during daily
internet coverage of the show at PerformanceBoats.com.
Scarnato will conduct live interviews with builders and other industry
experts on the L.A. show floor on Saturday, February 9, from 2 p.m. to 9
p.m. She will team with senior tech editor Jim Wilkes in online show
coverage of the 2008 boat models roll-out, which will be uploaded daily to
http://www.performanceboats.com.
Held at the Los Angeles Convention Center, the L.A. Boat Show is
celebrating its 52nd year and is one of the biggest shows for family
boaters. Scarnato will greet new readers and familiar fans at the
Performance Boats booth.
Also at Booth 209-11 (located in Kentia Hall), the magazine's editorial
staff -- comprising more than a hundred combined years of experience
testing the industry's latest models -- will field questions and help
distribute the Premiere issue of Performance Boats Magazine, a new,
high-end release scheduled for national newsstand distribution on July 01.
Cover model Cherie Carlson, who anchored most of the 50-plus video
episodes appearing on PerformanceBoats.com and who stars in the site's
Swimsuit features, will appear both weekends.
Scarnato shares a bold styling sense with many of the show's sleek
exhibitors, who are displaying state-of-the-art family craft with as much
as 1,000 horsepower. Observed Idol host Ryan Seacrest: "Haley set the
record for the shortest shorts in the history of television. Daisy Duke
has just been one-upped."
It is her voice, however -- and not just the well-chronicled length of
the 25-year-old San Antonio native's legs -- that has captivated the
attention of Nashville. A rich vocal texture that induced frenzied phone
response after her Faith Hill cover elicited the same response following
interpretations of Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, and Ella Fitzgerald,
indicative of the range of an elevating superstar.
"We're thrilled and honored with our affiliation with Haley -- she
aligns perfectly with our own mission as a new print and entertainment
force, in helping to take the performance boating industry to the next
level," said Chris Davidson, the Las Vegas-based publisher of
Performance Boats and former editor-in-chief of Hot Boat of more than 20
years. "She is doing the same in a musical career that we are
convinced will elevate her to stardom, an aspiration we share with our
website and magazine."
Another common interest: Elvis. Davidson was the founder of the world
famous Elvis-A-Rama Museum, which was purchased in 2006 by Elvis Presley
Enterprises. Scarnato is an anomaly in her age group -- an unabashed Elvis
fan.
