Colin Farrell Chose Acting Over Soccer  2/14/08

Hollywood heartthrob Colin Farrell turned his back on a promising soccer career to become an actor.

The star disappointed his sportsmen father and uncle by refusing to follow in their footsteps.

Farrell claims he didn't have the hunger to train every day and dedicate his life to the game.

He reveals, "My Uncle played for (Irish team) Shamrock Rovers and my dad represented Dublin. I played until I was 15.

"I thought it was what I wanted to do with my life, and then I decided to do something much less meaningful and become an actor. I didn't want it enough."
